Hello! Been a very busy week in the Evolve Systems offices. Lots of new and exciting projects coming down the pipeline, with a couple of current projects wrapping up soon; the last two websites Evolve Systems launched were for Xact! Due Diligence and Xact! Resources. Work continues on updating our own website, www.evolve-systems.com. And we’ve been helping local business professionals start podcasts and audio marketing strategies using our in-office recording studio! Things are going well.
Are you on Google+? While Evolve Systems does not have a Google+ account, since Google is discouraging companies from joining and establishing corporate presences on Google+ (so far), some of Evolve System’s employees and management have our own Google+ profiles. If you know us, hunt us down on Google+ and add us to your circles! And if you are already on Google+, or are looking to join it yourself, here are some articles that can provide some helpful information:

Moving on, perhaps the biggest piece of technology news to come out this past week was Netflix announcing that they are changing their pricing structure…effectively angering and upsetting nearly the entire Internet and all of Netflix’s customers. Some companies, like Redbox, are already thanking Netflix for angering their client base and giving them more customers. The biggest opinion running around the Internet is that it’s Hollywood’s fault for killing Netflix, as Netflix was charging so low and bringing in so many customers that it has killed DVD and movie sales.
But, of course, as with so many things involving technology and services that make content more valuable, the copyright holders get jealous and start complaining that they’re not making enough. With Netflix’s growing power, the studios have been on the warpath to cripple Netflix in protest of the current pricing scheme. In some ways, they really hate some of Netflix’s early deals, which allowed the company to offer such a convenient and reasonably priced offering. Pretty much all of the later online streaming movie offerings are, instead, forced to play by the big studios’ rules, which makes most of those services totally undesirable.
A big congratulations to Yelp! They now have over 20 million reviews of local businesses on their site! The infographic attached to this post is insanely detailed; our neighboring city of Chicago is the “Third Yelpiest City In the World”! Evolve Systems recommends to all our clients to establish themselves on Yelp and other similar review sites. The traffic and links generated from good quality word of type online can help your site reach new rankings and traffic. (And don’t forget, Evolve Systems is always willing to help you with your online marketing and social media efforts through one of our Website Maintenance Plans!)
That’s all for today, folks! Hope you have a great weekend. Stay cool, and perhaps go enjoy the very last Harry Potter movie this weekend!
