A picture is worth a thousand words is one of the truest statements ever written. Print magazines such as National Geographic have been proving it for decades, but the evolution of the World Wide Web has exponentially increased the power of the photograph. Before the Internet, photos had limited audiences- news photos were typically seen by local residents while friends and family saw personal photos. Today, photos from around the world are shared within seconds of capture.
If the photos on your website could speak, what would they be saying? Your website is often the first impression you are giving your customers and potential clients. You want your photos to be representative of your brand. Good photos are clear, well composed, and properly lighted. These photos tell viewers that your business is professional, organized, and attentive to detail.
Poor photos are often blurry or pixelated, dark, or serve no purpose. These photos are much less impressive to viewers, and do not encourage a return visit. The Internet is a very visual place. Words are important, but images can make or break your brand. Investing in a reputable photographer or quality stock photos will not only improve the overall look of your website, but will also improve the quality of your brand.
Take a look at your website- are there photos that could be better? If so, make it a summer goal to improve them wherever you can.
